In the past Plucky fully supported Vivaldi, but in July 2026 the Vivaldi team broke support for MV2 extensions – including Plucky.

Plucky users that strongly desire to keep using Vivaldi can do so if they install Vivaldi v8.0.4033 and never upgrade it. 8.0.4033 was the last version of Vivaldi to support Plucky and MV2 extensions in general.

How to install legacy Vivaldi

  1. Make sure you are importing block-chrome-brave-and-vivaldi-updates so Vivaldi never updates on its own and breaks.

  2. Download Vivaldi 8.0.4033. You can get it at https://r.pluckeye.net/vivaldi. If you need to download it for another platform, you can use the links below.

  1. Uninstall your current version of Vivaldi.

  2. Install Vivaldi 8.0.4033 and resume Plucking like a happy soul.

For Linux Users

Uninstall Vivaldi from your system and re-install it as a local package file.

sudo pacman -U /path/to/package   # Arch
sudo dpkg -i /path/to/package     # Debian/Ubuntu

Simply drag and drop the .deb / .zst file in your Downloads directory onto the terminal window to autofill in the path.

Don’t forget to remove the user data directory to avoid conflicts.

Troubleshooting

If Plucky icon isn’t visible after installing legacy Vivaldi

  • Make sure it’s not simply hidden by visiting vivaldi:extensions
  • If you have feature:novivaldi configured, remove it
  • If you don’t have feature:okvivaldi configured, add it
  • Temporarily add allow port 443 to your config, run the Plucky installer on top of your existing installation, and relaunch Vivaldi.

Install a supported browser

Don’t rely on a legacy browser as your only way to access the web. Install a properly supported browser as well in case things go awry.

Questions from users

  1. How can I avoid the notification on every browser start?

    If you click on the URL in the notification (that goes to this very page!), it should not appear again.

  2. If Plucky is removed from Vivaldi, does that mean that Vivaldi will suddenly be unfiltered?

    No. If the system feature is enabled, Vivaldi 8.1+ will be blocked when Plucky is removed.
