Windows, macOS, Linux

Spotify’s desktop app and web player can be given the classic treatment so that songs & podcasts are playable but all images/videos are plucked out.

  1. Import the Spotify recipe here: https://u.pluckeye.net/configurations/193230

  2. Delete the cache to remove previously loaded images. You can do this either of two ways:

    • In the Spotify app, go to your User in the top right and from the dropdown menu Settings > Storage > Clear Cache
    • Depending on your platform, you will need to navigate to a specific directory and delete everything in the directory location
    %localappdata%/Spotify/Storage # Windows
    ~/Library/Application Support/Spotify/PersistentCache/Storage # macOS
    ~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/Browser/Cache # macOS
    ~/.cache/spotify/Storage # Linux

If the above fails on newer versions of Spotify, please let us know.

Android

The only way we know of to filter the Spotify app on Android is using HeartGuard.

In order to know which hosts to allow on Spotify through HeartGuard, you can use the Spotify recipe as a reference guide. Note that the hosts are tagged so you know what purpose they serve. However due to platform differences it likely won’t be comprehensive enough.

You can also refer to this list which Jon discovered was enough to listen to his desired podcast without seeing images.
