A locked configuration is one that can not be altered. The ability to lock configurations was added because a few users wanted to prevent themselves from changing configurations. But because the majoriy of users should not lock their configurations, the interface for locking configurations will only be visible if you visit this hyperlink.
A configuration may be locked using a password (optional) and a delay. The delay can be as low as 0 and can be greater than 1 year.
A locked configuration is similar to a restricted device in that it can be used for extra password-protection, but unlike a restricted devices, a locked configuration is intended for self-control.
