Blot

The ability to blot was added in Plucky 1.12.10. The feature is experimental.

Blotting is the removing of images and video, but still allowing text for some words.

It is mostly useful for those who do not block image/ or video/ by default.

Blot words

To remove images from all web pages that contain the word donut or the phrase biscuits and gravy:

pluck + blot word donut
pluck + blot word biscuits and gravy

Blot words in the url only

To remove images from all web pages that contain the word apple in the url:

pluck + blot score 0.01 word apple

The result:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruit will not be blotted https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple will be blotted https://www.apple.com/ will also be blotted

Allow and blot

If a site is explicitly allowed, it will not be blotted even if it contains a blot term.

For example, after the following changes, https://example.com/yummy-italian-food will not be blotted.

pluck + allow example.com
pluck + blot word pizza

To allow media on a website and still respect blot rules, use unblock instead of allow.

pluck + block image/           # block images by default
pluck + unblock example.com    # but do not block images on example.com
pluck + blot word pizza        # and still blot pizza on example.com
